Lot's of positives
By Richard Bottomley
Good 1st half
Last season against this team we suffered 2 heavy defeats conceding 8 goals in each game. This season we lost 5-1 and today 4-0, so this is an improvement. The score also doesn't reflect the performance level especially in the 1st half.
We were holding our own and playing some decent football with a couple of minutes to go in the 1st half, a challenge was made in the box by Lewis Wilkinson, but the ball fell away very kindly to make it 1-0. Straight after we switched off at a throwing and with the last kick of the 1st half they made it 2 nil.
In the 2nd half we really struggled to get out of our own half, Mackenzie Fraser persisted and stayed positive, Bryn Evans had to make several saves and throughout Lewis Wilkinson, as ever this season, stayed strong.
Niall Brown played well again at left back using his pace to go towards the ball and George Boulton stayed strong too against their centre forward. There were some good passing moments with Josh Carney, George Martin, Elliot Atkinson joining up nicely. Luke Oldcorn and Sam Bottomley were strong in the middle too. We also suffered after Tim Hill has forced to leave the field, leaving us short with one substitute. Alex Hughes maintained his vocal contribution.
There were several decent performances, plus we have shown we are not far off really competing with the top sides in the division, the coaching team are really happy with the progress we have made this season with 1 game remaining.
MOM was Josh Carney, who out of all the players was calm on the ball, kept possession and moved the ball well.
