As we get ready for another exciting season at Gomersal & Cleckheaton FC, we would like to wish every one of our players and coaches the very best of luck for the 2026/2027 season.

Over the summer, our committee and coaches have put in many hours of hard work behind the scenes, preparing everything needed to get the club ready for another season. From organising teams and training to preparing facilities, equipment and all the many jobs that often go unseen, their efforts will help close to 500 players enjoy playing football at the club once again.

To all our players
Our biggest wish for every player this season is simple: enjoy playing football.
Of course, we all want to improve, learn new skills and compete, but football is about much more than what happens on the pitch. We hope that every player makes new friends, builds confidence and develops as a person as well as a footballer.
Listen to your coaches, support your teammates, work hard, enjoy your football and, most importantly, have fun. There will be good days, difficult days, wins and defeats – but every one of them is part of your football journey.

To all our parents and carers
We would also like to remind everyone that all of our coaches across every age group are volunteers

They give up many hours every week to plan sessions, organise teams, communicate with parents, attend training and matches, and do everything they can to provide our players with the opportunity to play football.

We ask parents to support our coaches wherever possible and help make their lives a little easier. Simple things can make a huge difference, whether that's:

• Helping to put the nets up and take them down
• Helping move goalposts and equipment
• Communicating promptly about your child's availability
• Supporting coaches with team organisation
• Being understanding of the time and commitment that volunteering requires

Our coaches don't do it for recognition – they do it because they want children and young people to enjoy football and be part of our club. A little help from parents goes a long way.

A football club is about much more than teams and results. It's about players, coaches, parents, volunteers and families working together as one club.
